Culture and tradition | Mountain village Wagrain
Many events and festivals take place in the warm summer months. The locals in Wagrain love their traditions and find it important to pass on old customs to the next generation. Therefore, many yearly festivals are organised, which the guests are more than welcome to attend. Concerts by the traditional alpine marching brass band, cultural exhibitions in the famous “Waggerl House“ or farmers’ markets are only small snippets from the summer programme. A special festival is the harvest festival – one gives thanks for the plentiful harvest and gets the livestock, which has been up on the mountain pastures over the summer, back down into the village. With regional delicacies like doughnuts, chopped up pancakes or schnapps mean that your physical wellbeing is also catered for.

The Karl Heinrich Waggerl House in Kirchboden is the domain of the former writer Karl Heinrich Waggerl. He wrote many famous novels, filled with humour and which are profoundly thoughtful. Today one finds show rooms and documents of his life works.
